Golden Doctoral Diploma — 2022 at vienna university of technology

Once each year, Vienna University of Technology presents a few selected graduates from 50 years ago with a Golden Diploma. In 2022 these were a total of 6 graduates with a Doctor technicae [Dr. techn.] from 1972, across the various schools of the University.

This was, and annually is, a grand affair, as illustrated by the impressive assembly of the entire leadership of the University.

The event starts with a speech by the University’s president [Rector], Prof. Sabine Seidler. All Vice-Presidents are in attendance, as well as all Deans and Vice-Deans. The event is taking place in the University’s Festsaal [festive hall].

The Golden Diploma is much grander that the original typewritten document from 1972. Yet, in 1972, the original document was adorned with a governmental „Stempelmarke“ [revenue stamp] which have apparently been abandoned in the intervening 50 years.

Note the modest original type-written doctoral diploma, also referred to as „Promotionsurkunde“, to the right. The new Golden Diploma looks much grander, but misses the governmental Stempelmarke [Revenue Stamp] in the amount of 15 Schillings [about EUR 1].
