Born and raised on the Big Island of Hawaii. Is a 4th generation Japanese-American. Received a B.A. (Physics) from Harvard College. Then a doctoral candidate in physics at the University of Colorado’s JILA (originally the Joint Institute of Laboratory Astrophysics), now with his Ph.D. completed. Born in Alaska to the state’s legendary blues artist Gary „Alaska“ Sloan. Grew up in rural Arkansas, attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville [B.A. in music]. He „escaped“ to Colorado through an M.M. (Master of Music) in Jazz at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Full-time musician based in the Denver area playing acoustic bass, tuba, and electric bass performing swing, Gypsy jazz, Dixieland, Western swing, blues, modern jazz, Americana and more.
